An ancient prophet lived alone in a pocket valley high up in the mountains. It was lush and cold, and the mountains yielded ample minerals with which the prophet could see into the future. But his powers were coveted. A warlord swept down on the little valley, and would have captured the prophet without any trouble, except that the prophet had seen his coming. He fled the peaceful valley, leaving behind nothing more than a memento of his powers, lost to the empire: a set of dice, transformed from the precious emeralds into nothing more than a set of dice. Perhaps the warlord could read something in their rolls.
